Introducing Radial Shockwave Therapy

We are proud to introduce Radial Shockwave Therapy as a non-surgical treatment option for our patients suffering from acute, subacute and chronic pain in deep layers of soft tissue, like muscles, bones and tendons. This reparative solution helps restart the healing process in old injuries, resolve chronic inflammation, break up scar tissue, increase mobility and ease pain without the need for painkillers.

What is Radial Shockwave Therapy?

Also referred to as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), Radial Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive procedure that sends acoustic waves deep into soft tissues that can’t be reached using standard chiropractic techniques or other tools. It is considered one of the most advanced and highly effective treatment options with an up to 90% success rate in many cases.

What Conditions Can Radial Shockwave Therapy Treat?

This treatment option works well for soft tissue structures, like tendons, muscles and bones, and especially in areas where connective tissue meets the bone, like ligaments in the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.

Because of its ability to reach and heal these areas, Radial Shockwave Therapy may provide significant reduction in pain and effectively treat numerous musculoskeletal conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Heel pain/spur

  • Tennis elbow

  • Shoulder pain

  • Achilles tendon pain

  • Scar tissue treatment

  • Chronic tendinopathy

  • TMJ

  • Whiplash

  • Stress fractures

  • Shin splints

  • Jumper’s knee

  • Neck pain

  • Back pain

  • Knee pain

  • Myofascial trigger points

How Many Radial Shockwave Therapy Sessions Do I Need?

Generally, Shockwave Therapy will take about 4 to 6 weekly sessions to resolve conditions, but with some chronic injuries it can take as long as 10 sessions for healing to fully occur. And the Shockwave Therapy itself lasts for about 5 minutes. However, depending on the extent of your injury or discomfort, the frequency and duration of your treatment will vary.

While some people will begin to feel noticeable relief in the treated area within 72 hours of the first session, it is imperative to complete your treatment for proper and total healing. After your initial visit, we will craft a unique treatment plan that you should follow for best results.

Shockwave therapy is not an appropriate treatment option for everyone, especially those who have a circulatory or nerve disorder, infection, a bone tumor or metabolic bone condition, open wounds at the treatment site, pregnant women, and those taking blood thinners.

How Much Does Shockwave Therapy Cost?

Shockwave Therapy is an effective, affordable way to accelerate soft tissue healing and make a significant difference in treating chronic conditions and chronic pain. While the treatment is not covered by major health insurance carriers, we have made the treatment sessions affordable for our patients at Back in Balance Chiropractic. With Shockwave Therapy, you can actually realize a long-term savings from having to reach an insurance deductible and/or make multiple co-pays for physical therapy. We would be happy to discuss if this treatment is right for you, the costs of the sessions, and our payment options.
